Garage Bar 2 Moving On UP

Due to the relocation of the webmaster… The site has gone stale… So what the hell I’ll put in an update anyway…

The Garage Bar 2 has moved up again for the 3rd session in a row.

Now they are dropping puck in D-West on Sunday nights.

The Chiller has a nice site now to check out stats with making this webmaster, database programmer and all around hockey enthusiast obsolete.

Nov 21 GB2 v/s BT2

The Kid was on Fire!  He was dancing all over the blue paint Sunday night blocking every single shot that got to him to pitch this third shutout of the regular season!  Way to go Kid!

Snoop had a hat trick.  Henry and Sprinkle and Bond added a goal.  Henry and Sprinkle and Saas had a 2 point night.  And everyone seemed to skate pretty damn good.

Refs were slow on some calls, especially the ones where the Kid was holding, covering up or laying on the puck.  But its all good, it doesn’t hurt as much when you are winning 6-0.

As for the post-game-meeting.  Belly Bump night was not as hot as com fest, but it was fun.

We lost.

Second shootout loss in a row.

The Kid was great, but you can’t do much when the team in front of you folds.

Franchise was tossed out for defending Bond after a blatant crosscheck.  Then Franchise was crosschecked to the head.  The opponent was ready to to drop gloves and give Franchise a knuckle Sandwich, and the Ref 5′ away didn’t do a thing.  The Garage Bar had to break the scuffle up, because no one else was.  Both players were tossed out.

And all this after two of their skaters forgot to checkin at the front desk, but were somehow “on the ice” that delayed the start of the game (that had already started by 5min or so).

There was a running clock early in the 2nd because of the sheer amount of penalties in the game.  16 total penalties, 9 of which were on the Garage Bar.

It was a bad night.

Garage Bar 2 put on a poor showing.  The Kid did a great job in the Net, but I think that Sunday night is proof that the Kid can’t carry the whole team.

To their credit BOB was very well positioned, and we weren’t.

Slovak is next week, rest up team, we’re going to need it as Slovak has a bit more speed than BOB had.

Nov 4 Columbus Blue Jackets at Atlanta Thrashers

Waterman, Franchise, Junior, Saas, Q, Snoop, Bond, Spires and Keith left Columbus Ohio on November 4th to visit Doan in Atlanta, GA and watch the CBJ play the Thrashers. Some by plane, some by car, and some by truck to meet up with recent relocatee Shane “Doan” Hoverman.

Lets just say the game was in a word, AWESOME! Not only did the CBJ win in a 3-0 shutout! But the crew of 10 sitting in Section 117 were those fans that hometown crowds dislike.

We made a lot of noise, so much noise in fact that during face offs the radio man started playing songs for EVERY faceoff, otherwise the 117 crew would drown out the 3000 something in attendance.

Lets just say: O-H-I-O!

Great Road Trip!

Garage Bar II (The Duce) lost again.

I personally blame the refs on this one.

MWS Goal 1 recap: on a GB2 defensive line change the ref came and took out our defender who could have stopped a break away.

MWS Goal 2 recap: thrown in with hand, ref missed the obvious throwing gesture.

End result 3-1 loss.

Maybe next week.

Oct 24 Duce (6) – Ice Hawks (5)

In a heated struggle for the entire 36 minutes Garage Bar Duce pulled off a win over the Ice Hawks. A spectator after the game was quoted as saying “that was a fun game to watch, normally they suck to watch, but that one was good”.

The Ice Hawks had some skaters that could skate, cary the puck and sometimes pass it.

The the astonishment of the crowd, Garage Bar also skated, carried the puck and even sometimes passed it. The defensive paring of Spires and C Smith caused our goalie more angst than aid. Throughout the rink it could be heard Spires Screen Spires Screen, meaning I needed to get out the goalies way. Maybe next time Kid, maybe next time.

It was a fun scrappy game, there was pushing and jawing in a fun way, not a stupid cocky way. Guy would get in the crease, and he’d get shoved out, and he wouldn’t complain it was great.

I have to say it was one of the most fun games I can recall playing.

All in all it was a great game. Wish we’d have helped the Kid out a little more and prevented the 28 shots that he faced, but what can ya do?

Skate hard, rest, Skate hard!

Hotlanta is coming up!

Oct 10th The Duce 4 – Ice Dogs 3

Well the first period the Garage Bar Duce looked like a respectable D-North Hockey team. Scoring, passing, positioning, and overall making the other team work harder than we were, good show.

The second period was dismal.

The third period was better than dismal but not as good as the first.

To highlight this, we had 8 shots in the first, 4 shots in the 2nd and a grand slam 3 shots in the third. Did I use Abismal yet? Our shift times gradually increased, lets keep an eye on that in the future via self monitoring, don’t make us yell at each other, we aren’t your mom.

As always our goal tender stood tall in the net and only really let the goals go through when we screened him or a un-carded C skater took a wicked slap shot from 60 feet out, there’s no way a D-Level player could shoot that puck with that accuracy with that heat, yea sandbagger.

Next game – Sunday Oct 17th 9:45p at Easton on the big ice versus BW3.

The other notable stat is was penalty minutes, Ice Dogs 8 Penalties (that’s 16 penalty minutes) versus The Duce with 1 penalty (2 minutes). The game is only 32 min- so they played half the game against us with a man in the penalty box, cherio guys, next time less tripping, roughing, hooking and high sticking and maybe it would be a nice CAHL hockey game!

Not much to say here… We were out of position, we made bad decisions, seemed to be afraid to cary the puck.

Our fans said it the best “You guys sucked”.
